Last minute changes ...
The Government has made a last minute change to the flexible working rights. The right to request flexible working was due to be extended to parents of children under 18 (as opposed to under 17 as it is currently) in April 2011 but has now backtracked on this arrangement and decided to leave it as it is.

This change was announced by Business Minister Mark Prisk in a speech to the Federation of Small Businesses today in Liverpool.

Therefore if you have already made changes to your policies in anticipation of this, you may now need to consider whether you wish to change this back again!

They are also reviewing other pieces of legislation and they may put exemptions in place for smaller businesses to help reduce "red tape" for SME's, so watch this space!
