Volunteers not covered by anti-discrimination employment legislation
A woman who was asked to stop volunteering at a Citizens Advice Bureau had claimed disability discrimination. The Court of Appeal has ruled that volunteers without contracts are not covered by anti-discrimination legislation for workers. The recent judgement was made involved female volunteer, who claimed she had been discriminated against on the grounds of disability when she was asked to stop volunteering for the Mid Sussex Citizens Advice Bureau.
