Don't Forget - New National Minimum Wage Rates and Age Bands
From 1st October 2010 the new rates come into being and the principal rate has been extended to apply to those aged 21 and over (not 22 as was previously the case) so you may need to check your employees' dates of birth if your pay rates follow the NMW.

The new hourly rates are:

£3.64 for those over the school leaving age from 16-17
£4.92 for those aged 18 - 20
£5.93 for those aged 21 and over.

A new rate for apprentices also comes into force. This is £2.50 for apprentices in their first year or aged under 19.

Apprentices in later years or aged 19 or over should be paid at the standard rate for their age.
