New Disciplinary and Grievance Code comes into effect in April 2009.
The revised Acas Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures has now been published. It will come into effect in April 2009, and will replace the statutory dismissal and grievance procedures.

Some aspects of the code will be simplified, but the general principles remain the same. It is not as prescriptive as the previous procedures, so may still depend on legal interpretation. When the consultation period is complete mid March and the new code is finalised, all employers should review their disciplinary and grievance procedures to ensure that they comply with the new Code.
