Case Study: Breathing More Easily!

The Client
A business manufacturing and distributing goods to the wholesale plumbing industry. It has staff located on several sites, including one in Scotland. They had been using an online HR information system (HRIS) for a few years to be able to keep staff records and have employees working on a range of differing working patterns including shift workers.

The Challenge
The existing HR system was old and “clunky.” It didn’t always work and was sometimes slow to respond. It had been built initially on a server-based system and had been migrated to the Cloud but didn’t have much flexibility and there were concerns that the software platform on which it had been built was to be discontinued. Furthermore, support and development of the system depended on one person and considered that to be a vulnerability. They were worried about the integrity of their data and there was a risk that they might lose it all.

The Solution
The client reviewed a number of HR information systems and spoke to Cherington HR about the problem. Helen gave them a demonstration of the breatheHR system and provided them with a free trial period with back-up support so that they could compare it with the other systems they were reviewing. She spent time helping them to upload their employee data in a controlled manner to ensure that it ran smoothly and helped them plan the rollout to staff. They chose the breatheHR system over the others because of its simplicity; its low cost; its reliability/ robustness; the fact that employees can submit holiday requests directly; and its compliance with Data Protection (GDPR) legislation. Cherington HR continues to provide them with direct support with back-up from the breatheHR team.

The Results
The client was very happy with her choice of software and the support provided by Cherington HR. She said, “Our business has grown substantially, now employing over 100 employees and more recently Helen introduced us and, helped configure an electronic HR portal called breatheHR which is an extremely useful tool to keep our records straight. It offers easy to navigate and reliable platforms and the reporting and communication tools have been very helpful. It has been well received by our staff…. I am not sure what we would do without it.”
